Department of Law
In order to develop an institution of excellence in legal education, JJT University established the Institute of Law in its campus to run BA-LLB (5-year integrated law course), LLB and Ph.D. programs. The objective of the institute is to disseminate legal knowledge that meets the demands of the fast-changing economic, political and social institutions. The emphasis is to look at law as an instrument of social change and progress and to inculcate amongst students high degree of professionalism with a sense of responsibility towards the society.
[POs.1]. Critical Thinking: Explore and explain the substantial & procedural laws in which they are made/drafted and how students think and understand the legislative setup.
[POs.2]. Effective Communication:Ability to learn the art of communicating and demonstrating their oral advocacy skills. Projecting the facts in way suitable to the client and power to convince on legal reasoning forms the essence of communication in courts of law.
[POs.3]. Social Interaction: Interpret and analyze the legal and social problems and work towards finding solutions to the problems by application of laws and regulations.
[POs.4]. Effective Citizenship: Inculcate values of Rights and Duties, and transfer these values to real- life through legal and judicial process for promoting community welfare.
[POs.5]. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to legal professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of the established legal practices.
[POs.6]. Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional, legal solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate the knowledge of and need for sustainable development.
[POs.7]. Life-long Learning: Recognize the need for and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broader context of legal change.
Program Specific Outcomes
PSOS.1 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of substantive & procedural laws including various legislations and connected rules & regulations.
PSOS.2 Drafting, Counselling, and Negotiation: Develop the skill of drafting or art of framing various plaints, petitions, writ, letters, using proper English format with clarity. Students, therefore, learn the skills of collaboration, negotiation, and counseling for the ethical implementation of the legal system.
PSOS.3 Building Professionalism Understands the standards of conduct involved in the practice of law and demonstrates the values of the legal profession. This inculcates ethical responsibilities towards clients in a legal system.
PSOs.4 Development of Interpersonal Skills: Develops the ability to analyses, synthesize, and disseminate large amounts of complex and disparate information comprising of legal and non-legal aspects on the working of the entire system.
Programe Educational Objectives(PEO) LL.B.
Graduates of the Three-year Law degree program will
a) Be able to grasp theoretical-practical legal knowledge.
b) Be prepared for professional challenges.
c) Be trained in the basic skills essential for every lawyer, including analysis, research, writing, advocacy and problem-solving.
d) Develop a sense of social responsibility and commitment.
Program Learning Outcomes
After completing LL.B., & B.A.LL.B. students will be able to:
a) Consider how the law affects and is affected by individuals, organizations, markets, societies, and other disciplines;
b) Conduct Research on legal topics and questions using primary legal material (statutes, court decisions).
c) Apply critical thinking skills in reading and interpretation of legal material (Contract, Torts).
d) Have a thorough knowledge of Crime scene Investigation, FIR, enforcement agencies used in a criminal investigation, and in civil, thorough knowledge of procedures of civil suits and limitation for filing various suits.
- The main objective is to cultivate the science of law, to promote advanced studies and research in law in order to meet the social, economic and other needs of the society, to promote systematization of law, to improve legal education, to impart instructions in law, and to publish studies, books, periodicals, etc. promoting and conducting legal research (in corporate law, mercantile law, international law, tax law, patent law, property law, family law, criminal law, and others).
