Department of Physical Education

The Department of Physical Education was established under the institute of Education in 2011 with the aim to produce word class professionals in Research, Consultancy, Training and Education. The Department has already made a significant land mark in this direction. It has now taken an academic status and caters to the needs of the public in general and standard of Physical Education in the university in specific.
Recently, Physical Education has emerged as an important academic discipline imparting various courses of teacher education that include Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.E.), Research in Physical Education and Yogaic Sciences. All the above courses are being run in the Department to cater  the need of trained leadership in Physical Education and Sports. The proposed courses B.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed. will be started from session 2012. The department provide fee concession in B.P.E. upto 50% to those candidate who have won medal at state level and national level sports organized by national and state fedration. Weightage of 5% shall be given to those applicants who have reperesented india at international competition duly recognised by Indian Olympic Association.
University has Basketball Court, Lawn Tennis Court,  Volleyball Court, Kabaddi Ground, Kho-kho Ground, Grassy Football Ground, Hockey Ground, Cricket Ground, Handball Ground, Indoor Hall for Badminton & Table Tennis, Weight-Lifting and a 400m track.

Placement & Scope of the courses

The passed out students of the above courses are eligible for the appointment as Sports Officers, Director of Physical Education,  Supervisors and Fitness Consultants in School, Colleges Universities, Industrial establishments, Commercial firms, Government and non-government agencies which are engaged in promoting physical education and sports. They are also eligible for the commission in Army, Navy, Air-force and Paramilitary forces.


Students will become lifelong learners/movers by embracing and practicing fitness and wellness habits, participating in a variety of movement experiences and developing positive social skills.
The physical educator will encourage individual growth and support diverse learning styles by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and authentic assessments. Other academic subjects will be infused as they occur naturally in physical education.
Families and the community will partner to promote lifelong wellness/movement opportunities.


To impart the knowledge, values, and skills necessary to become lifelong learners/movers by practicing wellness habits and developing positive social skills while participating in a variety of movement experiences.
To create a physical education setting which encourages individual growth and supports diverse learning styles and the development of critical thinking, problem-solving and effective group interaction.
To integrate and promote other curricular areas in the physical education setting, such as: oral and written communication, mathes, health and science.
To utilize current computer and exercise technology and in service opportunities to enhance delivery of the Physical Education curriculum.
To encourage family and community lifelong wellness and movement opportunities.
To provide knowledge and skill that will empower a student’s independence to develop lifelong, health-enhancing physical activity and fitness levels.

Teaching Methodology

The teaching methodology adopt by the Department of Physical Education is in complete synergy with the latest and ever evolving market challenges and trends We follow highly interactive, student centric and innovative teaching methodologies that emphasize on learning by experimenting and experiencing, to groom future sports leaders and managers. These include case studies, Audio-visual presentations, group discussions, role-plays, sports meets, special lectures from experts, symposia, seminars, projects and quizzes. Adequate focus is given on enhancing analytical powers, communicational skills; extra stress is given to develop problem solving strategies and team spirit.
