STANDARD PROCEDURE FOR PURSUING Ph.D.(Full Time as per UGC Rule July, 2009)

Fill the application form, attach documents and photograph and submit the duly filled form along with registration fee of Rs. 1600/- in the term of demand draft drawn in favor of JJT University payable at Mumbai/ Jhunjhunu directly in the JJT University’s office at Jhunjhunu or at University’s headquarters – Shri Rajasthani Seva Sangh, Andheri East, Mumbai 400059.

Appear for interview after submitting interview form (Annexure – A).

Research Proposal of approx. 4-6 pages be prepared and discussed during interview.

After passing the Interview, pay the term fees of 1st year minimum Rs. 24,000/-, Rs. 32,000/-, Rs. 48,000/- by demand draft (annual term fees).

Collect Your Ph.D. I Card indicating name, enrollment number & joining date. Guide will be allotted to you by the University after passing the test & interview normally within two months.

In normal circumstances, the guide/ topic will not be changed. However, in exceptional cases with justifiable reasons, the guide/ topic can be changed on the written request of Research scholar.

The minimum two years period will be counted from the date of pre- Ph.D. entrance Test, successful interview, and paying the complete 1st year fees.

Second year fees of Rs. 48,000/- should be paid in the 1st quarter of second year.

Engineering, Pharma Technical and Science students should manage lab related research work either at their college or in a private lab at their own cost, if practical work is carried outside university campus.

Prior approval of the Laboratory should be taken from University before starting the research work. The lab should be fully equipped to carry out all experiments to pursue Research programme.

Research scholar has to spend 200 hours for the study of course work within two years at University Campus. The 1st course work includes Research Methodology, Computer Application and review of Literature and assignments. This course work is of 100 hours or minimum of 10 days which has to be completed as early as possible by staying at University campus at Jhunjhunu. This will qualify the Research scholar to pursue further Ph.D. programme. The course work detail is as per annexure - B.

After passing the course work exam, the student will be allowed to proceed with 20- 25 pages of synopsis work and complete the assignment given before submission of synopsis.
Research Scholar will have to visit the University Campus at Jhunjhunu again for 100 hours or minimum ten days to complete the balance part of course work which includes paper on Quantitative Techniques, review of published research work, assignment class lectures, participation and discussion etc. Examination will be held of this course work also.
Successful completion of course work, assignments, various presentation, attending seminars, the Synopsis of20-25 pages can be given within a maximum period of 18 months, from the Registration as the Ph.D. program is of two years. If it is not given within 18 months, it will be presumed that student is not interested in completing his/ her Ph.D. in two years. In that event, additional fee of successive year has to be paid. The registration is valid for a maximum period of seven years.
Rs. 5,000/- will be changed for completing the course work per year. To & fro i.e., travelling and incidental expenses has to be managed by Research scholar. Research scholar has to make their own arrangement to visit University with prior intimation.

The permanent registration number will be allotted only after clearing the exam held after the successful completion of 2nd course work at the University, approval of synopsis (20- 25 pages) by the DRC.

Research scholar has to pay amount of Rs. 5,000/- as Examination (Thesis Evaluation Fee) fees when he submits the thesis.

Six monthly progress report to be sent the University duly signed by the Guide stating in detail the number of working days, books and journals referred to, previous work studied etc.

Research scholar is expected to spend 600 hours by any mode during the tenure of Ph.D. course with their Guide and a certificate to that effect be obtained and submitted to the University before submission of the thesis.

The progress in Research work is to be demonstrated by attending national seminars, presenting papers in the seminars, and six monthly report duly signed by the Guide at regular intervals of six months.

The Ph.D. candidates shall publish two research papers in a referred journal either in ISSN or ISBN as required.

Research scholar has to submit a synopsis of 20-25 pages at least six months before submission of dissertation and if that is approved & final enrollment no. will be given to research scholar. He will be allowed to work further on the final thesis.

Before submission of the final thesis, Research scholar has to submit the verification certificate of the last qualifying degree from the concerned university and obtain a migration certificate from the previous university and submit it to JJTU.

Prior to submission of thesis, Research scholar shall make a presentation in the department that may be open to all faculty members and Research Students for getting feedback and comments which may be suitably incorporated in to the draft Thesis under the advice of Supervisor.

The thesis produced by Ph.D. scholar shall be evaluated by at least two experts out of which at least one shall be from outside the state. University may invite one examiner from outside the state. University may invite one examiner from outside the country. If any deficiency is found in the thesis, the Research scholar will be under the advice of supervisor.

Final thesis should be hard- bound and printed as per the format laid down by the university. Five set of hard copies and two of soft copies of the thesis are to be submitted to the University.

On receipt of satisfactory evaluation report, the research scholar shall undergo Viva- voce examination which shall be openly defended by Research scholar.

Following the successful completion of the evolution process, the Ph.D. degree will be awarded within 3 to 4 month upon receipt of the recommendation from the committee. After awarded the degree, the University shall submit the soft copy of the thesis within a period of 30 days for hosting the same in INFLIBNET accessible to all institutions/ Universities.

After the successful completion of the evolution, Ph.D. degree will be awarded. Along with the Ph.D. degree, a provisional certificate will be issued certifying to the effect that the degree has been awarded in accordance with the provisions and the UGC regulations.

Research scholar has to abide by the above conditions and comply with them; falling which she/ he shall be declared disqualified.

In no case the Research scholar should copy the earlier published thesis. In that event, if the thesis will become void at any stage University shall take no responsibility for the same.

The award of Ph.D. degree shall be on the related topic of the scholar.

If the UGC and/ or any other competent authority do not give any benefit monitory or otherwise to Research scholar after taking Ph.D. for any reason whatsoever University shall not be responsible.

All research papers published in the referred journal and thesis approved & Accepted by the University will be the sole property of the University.

Hon. Chancellor/ Chairperson may waive/ reduce the hours of the course work in exceptional cases for local/NRI research scholar wherein the research scholar has made outstanding contributions in the area of research work by means of publications, field work/ has guided sum research student etc. On the recommendation of BASR.

In case a scholar is found to be outstanding in research and completed all formalities like course work, attending seminar, publishing, Articles, submission of synopsis, Ho. Chancellor/ Chairperson may consider reducing the duration of suitable and the process of approval of thesis can be prepended on the recommendation of BASR.

If at any time during the course, Ph.D. scholar wants to discontinue, than JJT University will not issue any certificate regarding any course done during the tenure from the University and no fee will be refunded.

Evaluation and Assessment method for every paper of end Seminar Examination will be as follows:

Presentation/ Assignments - 30 Mark
End Semester Examination - 40 Mark
100 Marks for each paper
Minimum qualifying Mark 50% of the Aggregate Marks assigned
